An absolutely amazing feeling...

Okay. Today I met a horse that lives behind some people I know. I went over to their house and brought my camera for taking some pictures. So I went out into the field(not really thinking about the fact that I'd only met the two horses once before). Then I called and clicked to the horses. They didn't really pay much attention to me, but when I got closer, I clicked and knelt to sit on the ground, still watching them. Then "Autumn"(her unofficial name) looked up at me. She kinda gave me a curious look and considered whether she should go back to grazing or come to me. She went back to grazing for a moment and then her curiosity got the better of her. She started walking slowly toward me, then walked faster. Then she started trotting. She trotted the distance between us in a few seconds. I was still sitting on the ground, now avoiding eye contact because it can make horses feel threatened. She smelled me and started grazing around me. I took some pictures and she kept sniffing me. Then she moved her nose up to my face. I couldn't get anymore pictures at this point, but she started smelling me and stuck her nose against mine. It was the coolest feeling. I was still sitting on the ground just watching and letting her do her thing. Then I went back to picture taking and petted her and took some strange angle shots that you can only get when you're on the ground. It was so awesome! I will post some pictures tomorrow, but I had an amazing day! She was the sweetest horse. "Chester" was just grazing still. I tried approaching him, but backed off when he turned and started away. He was old and timid. But I fell in love with Autumn(not that I don't fall in love with every horse). By the way, most people don't just go and sit down in fields with horses. A lot of people at too afraid to do that. I didn't even think about the fact that I didn't know these horses, either. Probably not a smart move, but I don't regret it. Today was great! Pictures coming tomorrow as I am going to my riding teacher's house to actually ride and some from today, also!

Photos

These are some photos of two little girls I had the opportunity to watch a year ago at Forest Baptist Church. I'm pretty cure they were ten months and six months old. They were so much fun!

Saturday

I am going to my riding teacher's house. I dunno if I will be able to ride, but I'll bring my camera and work on getting some really good pictures!

Angel biscuits

This is one of my favorite recipes!

1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 c warm water
2 c warm buttermilk(or 2 T white vinegar to remaining measure milk)
5-5 1/2 c flour
1/4 c sugar
2 t baking powder
1 t baking soda
1 T salt
3/4 c chilled shortening(or butter)
4 T chilled butter
melted butter

1. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Set aside.

2. In large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles course meal with pea-sized pieces of fat.

3. Stir in yeast mix and butter milk, blending well. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface just a few turns. Pat into a round about 1/2 in. thick. Cut w/ 2-2 1/2 in. biscuit cutters. Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise in a warm place 30 min.

4. Bake 400 degrees 15-20 min. Brush tops with melted butter while still hot.

Random, fun things

Walking through target...

"Turn left, NOW!"~Sister
Starts to turn left on purpose...right into an aisle...
"Yes, turn, NOW!" ~Woman in the store

Waiting in line at the Barnes and Noble Cafe...

Older man waiting in line smiles patiently.

A few mins. later...still waiting in line.

"Do you go to Liberty?" ~Older man
"No, I'm homeschooled."
Man nods.

A few mins. later...completing order...

"Can I give you a phone number for the membership card?"
"Yes." ~Woman taking order
"525-"
"434, right? Area code?" ~Woman
"Yes, ma'am, 525-1799."
Woman types numbers into cash register.
"Your card is expired, would you like to renew it today?" ~Woman
"No thank you(this is my Mom's card, by the way[I didn't say that])." Continuing to pull money out of wallet.
"She can use mine." ~Older man standing behind says, rather quickly.
Proceeds to give the woman his phone number.
"Thank you."

Seeing a beautiful, simple, yet elegant wedding dress(and pretty modest, I might add) at Good will for $75.

Later...back in the car with brother and sis...

Singing Irish tenors songs together with brother
trying to sing soprano.

These are fun things I did today. It definitely put me in a good mood. It's so fun to spend time with your family and just goof off. Not to mention seeing other people's reactions to your somewhat immature behavior in stores. I had a pretty good day today.

Psalm 43:5

Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.

Butterflies

I saw a yellow butterfly outside my window today. It was a brilliant yellow. A beautiful yellow. Bright, shining, simple, yet beautiful. It was so different. Just to see such a small thing bring such joy to the world. In only fluttering from leaf to leaf. Just doing what God told it to do. Why can't I do that? Maybe if I did what God told me to, I'd bring some joy into the world, too. I just thought it was so cool.

Another promise

Psalm 91:14-16
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.”

School

I've decided to start concentrating on school. I have been thinking about being a veterinarian and some of the places I've looked at for information about it, tell you to get the highest form of Math and Science available to you. I think they said English, too. I've been doing a really bad job at Algebra lately, though. I hope I can bring my grades up more. I've always loved Science, but I don't remember getting an exceptional grades in that either. I also read somewhere that only 30 percent of students applying to schools get accepted! I'm not sure that this is true, but that's what I've heard. I'm not sure I would make it in. But I'm sure I won't make it in if I don't even try! I don't know what college I'm looking at yet, but I would like to find a Christian veterinary college if I can. I don't know if they have such schools, but I plan on looking. I'm thinking about Bob Jones for pre-veterinary med. It requires a high school education and somewhere from 2-4 years of undergraduate school to get into a college of veterinary medicine. That's a lot of schoolwork. A lot of studying. Wow. But I'm gonna try at least. I don't even know if this is what God has in mind for me, but I think He would want me to try. Anyway, that's all I've got to post for now.

Internet down...

Well, my internet is down(hopefully temporarily), so I won't be able to do much for a while. I don't know when it will be fixed, but for now, I'm using my Dad's computer. I also STINK at Algebra. I can't get it for anything. Umm...cleaning today. My Mom organized the kitchen and I need to clean up my stuff, too. I did have a blast on Friday riding, but I'm afraid I only got two pics(which are actually really good), and I can't put them up until my computer is working again. I met someone I've talked to for a couple of years on Saturday. I've been emailing and talking to her on AIM. I met her at Liberty(she was visiting). That was pretty fun.

Then I went out and got an awesome PUMPKIN SPICE FRAPPUCCINO!

That was sooooooooooooo good!

Nothing else is really going on except school.

"Rescue me"

This is going to be a short, but hopefully interesting post. I have been noticing how every time(at least every time I've read about) someone is in trouble in the Bible, God helps them. Sometimes, He doesn't do it right away, but He does eventually rescue them. I've been taking comfort in this today. I've been thinking maybe He'll someday come and rescue me. Maybe He's just decided to wait a little longer to rescue me.

Psalm 18:19
"...He rescued me because He delighted in me."

Yesterday

Yesterday was October 9th. Three years ago, my oldest sister got married. I became a sister-in-law. It's hard to believe that it's been that long. I'm fifteen. I was twelve. Wow. Here is a picture that the wedding photographer took. That was NOT supposed to be taken, but what can I say? These photographers just can't help themselves. It's a good picture, anyway. And yes, I am a bit taller, now.

That's my brother-in-law

Wow. Dunno for sure, but I think my brother-in-law wrote this sometime in 2006. But it's about my sis and me. Pete had(and still does) this thing with me being "Kristen the llama tamer". It was interesting....yeah. By the way, this is not what we're like... So here it is...

A Poem in Four Fractures by Ferdinand Snicker the Doodle:

"heyu!" she yelped, her mouth agape,
(She squeezed a scarf 'round Kerynne's waist),
"I e-mailed you, you e-mailed me,
Now I respond!" she said with glee.

Kerynne turned blue and bugged her eyes
At llamas tamers half her size.
"The belt's too tight!" gasped out Kerynne,
Her foot rushed towards her sister's shin.
A resounding THWACK and Kristen stopped
Cinching Kerynne. Now how she hopped
In pain. On no, eek! See, a bruise!
"Look here!" snarled Kris, "This is BAD news!"
"Oh YEAH?" quipped sis, "Y'know yer NUTZ?
Crazy! Loopy! No 'if's' 'and's' or 'but's'!
A whistler, insane and ...more insaner!
I think you're fruitier'n a LLAMA TAMER!"

Kristen giggled, stopped and stared.
"Aw Kerynne, I never knew you cared
To compliment me in such a way.
Dear sister, you surely made my day!"

The Langner sisters stopped their fightin'
Made up quickly (like greased lightnin')
And went to tell their dearest momma...

Are you ready for this?

.... that Kristen wants to tame a llama.

And yes, my bro-in-law is nuts(present company accepted, of course).

Bummed out...

I'm very disappointed. I was going to go riding today. My riding teacher rescheduled for Friday, though. Their hay wasn't coming in on time 'cause the truck blew a tire and so it all got pushed back. I have all the luck in the world. Every time I get a ride scheduled, it always gets cancelled or rescheduled. I guess I'm just not very good at getting the right time...

Mind boggled

My head is spinning with things I need to do, things I have done, things about God, things to worry about, things I know, things I don't know, things I want to do, things I don't have time to do, thing I wish I had time to do, things I wish I could do, things I can't do, etc...

I can't stop thinking. My head is running. Without me. I might be crazy, but I think I'm growing up. Isn't that a sign of growing up? Having a head full of things to do? Probably not. I need some time to relax.

The things about God running through my head are so jumbled up I can't even clear them. Maybe I'll write something interesting later when my mind is a little less of a catastrophe.

Let's see...

I have done school and now I'm off to do chores. I'm getting into writing again. I can't wait to write the next part. But it's going to have to wait... Sigh...

Autumn has finally hit!

The temperatures are almost perfect! But the bugs are still around. Bah! I hate bugs. But I like the temperature. Anyhow...that's all...

Countdown 'til Christmas Eve-82 days, 10 hours, 55 minutes
