Lamentations 3:17-26

I found this reading through my Bible last night.

You have moved my soul far from peace;
I have forgotten prosperity.
And I said, “My strength and my hope
Have perished from the LORD.”
Remember my affliction and roaming,
The wormwood and the gall.
My soul still remembers
And sinks within me.
This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
“ The LORD is my portion,” says my soul,

“ Therefore I hope in Him!”
The LORD is good to those who wait for Him,
To the soul who seeks Him.
It is good that one should hope and wait quietly
For the salvation of the LORD.

What I love about God

A few girls that I know(or know of) have posted on this subject. I thought that I would join in!

One of the things I love most about God is how He loved me first. He loved me more than life and gave His own Son to die for my sins. I love His mercy. I love that He can never sin. I love His faithfulness. I love His comfort. I love how His intention all throughout His word was for the salvation of man, and all so He could get the glory. I love His humility. I love His relationship to His people. I love how His wrath turns to mercy over and over again in His word. I love that God is compassionate. I love that He speaks through the quiet of the night and not so much through the storm. I love to hear His voice in the storm. I love that God cares about everyone. I love that He cares what happens to me. I love that He cares how I treat others. I love how He's always there and I will never get a "busy" signal. I love how God's love waits for me. I love how beautiful He made horses and all His creation. I love His creativity. I love how He made everyone special in their own way. I love how He answers prayer. I love how He is always gentle. I love how He can make me respond to the little things. I love that He never pushes Himself on me. I love that He is always listening. I love that He thinks I am worth more than sparrows. I love how He reassures me of His love when I so often forget. I love how He has blessed me with so much more than I need or deserve. I love His grace. I love that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I love that Jesus cried. I love that He never forgets me. I love all His promises. I love His protection. I love His forgiveness. I love His quickness to take me in His arms and hold me. I love His selflessness. I love that He makes intercession for me when I pray. I love that He has made it possible for me to pray and talk directly to Him. I love that He notices me. I love that He became human and can therefore understand all my of weaknesses and failings. I love that He was tempted in every way possible on earth. I love that through it all He never sinned. I could keep going and going and going, but I'll stop here for now.

I almost hate to say it, but I love the way He makes me wait for things until His timing. I just love the way that He always fulfills my dreams soooo much more than I ever dared to dream. I can remember things that I prayed sooo hard about that I would constantly wonder why He was making me wait. But then He would answer me and often it would be far more than I ever dreamed He could do! I just love that about Him.

Of rainy days...

I don't know why, but there is something about rain that makes me depressed. Not to mention my dream got shot for the millionth time today. But that's a different story. It's always so depressing. Maybe there's something in the sun that makes me happy. Maybe it's just the overall color gray. Or maybe it's that our dogs come in soaked after going out. I don't know. But for some reason, it always makes me depressed. ='(

Bread notes...

When kneading bread, DO knead it until it bounces back when punched. Don't always listen to the time. =D

DON'T add yeast into a boiling water, because it kills the yeast. =(

DON'T let the milk boil over if using milk in a recipe. Electric stoves are a pain in the neck to clean. =P

After rising, DO knead for a few moments to get air bubbles out.

(I didn't do any of these this morning, but I've done them before. So DON'T DO these things. They mess up the bread.) ;)

Anyway, I will post a bread recipe later. =D

Candle making(or rather "mess making")

So...guess what I did this afternoon?

Melting the wax...

Starting the candle...

Dipping the candle...

Cooling the candle...

Cooling...

More dips...Kerynne said these looked like pickles...

More dips and cooling...

Putting it in the stand...

Lit!!!

Two of my very own homemade candles...

Even though they look terrible, at least they burn!

Thanksgiving Break

Well, today was the last day of school for about a week. I don't have school next week because we have a house to clean and lots of cooking and baking to do and lots of guests coming. I'm gonna get to see my niece and nephew! I miss Piper. I don't get to see her very much, but I miss her anyway. I wonder if she thinks I'm a good aunt or a terrible aunt. =\ I guess she probably hasn't thought about it much. I haven't had much chance to be an aunt. Anyway, I'm off school for a week and have lots of baking and cleaning and TONS of extra praying to do. So anyway, maybe I'll get to go riding one more time before Christmas. I dunno. My Mom's not for the idea, so I guess I'll have to see. I miss Delaney soooo much! I want to visit her soon. Maybe between Christmas and Thanksgiving? Oh, well. I guess I'm talking about nothing again. I'll probably post some recipes this week.

Things mostly pertaining to Christmas

Okay. I'm deliriously happy now. Mom found my Christmas cds! Yay!!!!! I've been looking for them for a couple of months. They are my favorite cds. Even though I only have three. =(

Here are some things that I've discovered make me extremely happy.

Horses.
The smell of horses.
Riding horses.
Riding horses bareback. =P
Anything horses.
Four certain Cocker spaniels that are behaving(for once).
Getting gifts for people I love(except when I'm out of money).
Gifts from people I love.
Emails from people I love.
Finding Christmas cds close to Thanksgiving that I've been looking for.
Going Christmas tree hunting.
Pine trees.
The smell of wassail on the night we get our Christmas tree.
Drinking wassail on the night we get our Christmas tree.
Black and Blueberry Rush Naked energy drink.
Decorating Christmas trees.
Decorating for Christmas while playing Christmas music and drinking wassail.
Egg casserole(I'll post the recipe soon) for Christmas breakfast.
Reading the Christmas story on Christmas Eve.
Waking up to an early surprise of a movie and peppermint coffee on Christmas.
Getting the teddy bear I wanted in a box labeled for someone else. =D
Seeing nieces and nephews.
Walking on a cool day with my dog and my sis(not necessarily in that order).
Playing Christmas music on the piano.
Finding things packed away that I've been looking for forever.
When my friends call me. (hint, hint) (jk)
Taking pictures of horses.
Horses that are running in a field.
Popcorn balls for snacks for Christmas.
A perfectly beautiful, cool, crisp day with a breeze when I ride.

I think I better quit. This takes work thinking of all these things. ;-)

Gotta run anyway.

My, my...

It is actually cold in November in Virginia. Okay. Well...I'll take what I can get. =) 40 degrees isn't that bad for Virginia. It almost snowed here today, too. Maybe Christmas? *hopeful look*

But, other than that, We're having a huge Thanksgiving and a very small Christmas. NOT normal for the Langners. Okay, well, it's kinda normal, but Christmas has always been a big thing at our house. Nobody is coming home this year. They all want to have their own small Christmas. =(

Aaaannnd why am I posting? My family is the only ones who read this blog anyhow...oh, well. Maybe I'll have a reason to look back on it someday. =\

Christmas

40 days, 6 hours, 48 minutes until Christmas Eve.

I hope no one will be disappointed this year, but I don't have any money for Christmas gifts. I'll see what I can do, but I really don't have money for everyone. Does anyone have an cheap gift ideas? Such as something I could make?

My confession(lyrics)

These are some amazing lyrics by Josh Groban. Sometimes I wonder if he really is a Christian because some of his songs sound sooo much like he's speaking about God. This was an amazing one I love. I especially love the middle part about God(when I sing it, I think of God) being my breath and the ground beneath my feet.

I have been blind, unwilling to see
The true love you're giving.
I have ignored every blessing.
I'm on my knees confessing

That I feel myself surrender
Each time I see your face.
I am staggered by your beauty,
Your unassuming grace.
And I feel my heart is turning,
Falling into place.
I can't hide
Now hear my confession.

I have been wrong about you.
Thought I was strong without you.
For so long nothing could move me.
For so long nothing could change me.
Now I feel myself surrender
Each time I see your face.
I am captured by your beauty,
Your unassuming grace.
And I feel my heart is turning,
Falling into place.
I can't hide
Now hear my confession.

You are the air that I breathe.
You're the ground beneath my feet.
When did I stop believing?

Cause I feel myself surrender
Each time I see your face.
I am staggered by your beauty,
Your unassuming grace.
And I feel my heart
Falling into place.
I can't hide
Now hear my confession.
I can't hide
Now hear my confession.
Hear my confession

Winter

Well, my favorite season is ending already. =(

But I guess that means Christmas is coming! =)

43 days, 2 hours, 43 minutes until Christmas Eve... =D

Oh, and Wednesday is only a day away! I can't wait! =D =D =D

For all my good intentions..

This is what I get.

Okay. This is TOTALLY NOT fair. I woke up this morning with very good intentions to get all of my schoolwork done, bathe our four dogs, and then go walking! Well, I got up, everything went fine, then it all went kuput after breakfast. I won't give the gory details, I'll just say I threw up and have been having some health issues. So NOW I'm signed up to go to the doctor. The ONE morning that I actually wake up in a good mood, ready to attack the day with full force, my plans are thrown down the drain(no pun intended). I've gotta run to the doctor this morning to find out what's wrong with me. Those of you who actually read this, pray for me. I don't know what this problem is. Actually, forget that last request. Pray for my Mom. She's really worried. =(

So...the story of my life...sigh...

Daisy

This was so beautiful to see on a cool autumn day that I just had to take a picture of it.

A single flower.

And it was surrounded by leaves! I thought is was a very nice picture.

My new haircut

Umm...well...this is my new haircut, terrible as the pictures are...It doesn't really look that different...all I had done was I had the stylist put some layers in.

Ah, the chores...

I just successfully(I think) cleaned most of the house. Vaccumming, picking up, dishes, bathrooms, putting clothes away, folding laundry, etc.. I didn't mop the kitchen floor or dust. So anyway, at least the house looks picked up. :)

A clean house does make me happy. For some reason, there's just something depressing about a messy house. Anyway, that's today.

Wasps.

Don't EVER open your windows when they don't have screens. I have decided I HATE wasps. When in concession, you have one try to land on your face, then your neck, then sit and try to watch a movie with five of them flying around in your room, then have them try to land on you again, it's not fun. Sigh. Then, you, being the only one not allergic, have to vacuum them up. I have decided it is not fun to have a little brother who is afraid of bees and bugs. It makes me sad. I miss having an older brother who would take care of them. I'm tired of being the one who has to take care of the bugs. I'm tired of being the strong one. I want to be a girl. I can't wait to get married and have a guy do what the guys are supposed to do anyway. I can deal with almost anything, but when it comes to snakes and bees, you can count me out.

I'm deathly afraid of them.

Oh, and one more thing. I finally put away the vacuum cleaner and found another one. I had to put the whole vacuum cleaner back together. I rammed my finger in the process and didn't even notice it was bleeding.

Amber Sue...

This is for you. I thought I'd give you a sneak peek at your horse for Wednesday!

Praise Him!

Well, even though it may seem like it, the world has not ended yet.

God is still on the throne. God is still King. God is still in control of everything. God is still God. God has not forsaken us. God is and always will be I AM. He is "the great king over all the earth". Praise God that He's still in control. Praise God that we can still come to Him. Praise God that He doesn't leave us just because a democrat won the election. Praise God that His ways are unsearchable. Praise God that He is still King.

This is a day of rejoicing! I will rejoice, even though everyone else may be crying out in agony. I will praise my God because He has rescued me from an eternal death! I will praise Him because He is God. I will praise Him because He is higher than a president. I will praise Him because He loves me more than anything and he sent His only son to die for me. I will praise Him for the resurrection. I am praising the Lord for His love is higher and deeper and longer and wider than anyone's(Ephesians 3:14-19)! I will praise the God of the skies, for He is my very breath!

Praise ye the Lord!

Psalm 47

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.
1 Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples!
Shout to God with the voice of triumph!
2 For the LORD Most High is awesome;
He is a great King over all the earth.
3 He will subdue the peoples under us,
And the nations under our feet.
4 He will choose our inheritance for us,
The excellence of Jacob whom He loves. Selah

5 God has gone up with a shout,
The LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
7 For God is the King of all the earth;
Sing praises with understanding.

8 God reigns over the nations;
God sits on His holy throne.
9 The princes of the people have gathered together,
The people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
He is greatly exalted.

My favorite picture...

I can't help it. I absolutely adore this picture! I love this horse! He's probably my second-best friend. I can't help it. In spite of all his faults, he's just too lovable. He's so funny!

This is a cool passage from Job 39.

“Have you given the horse strength?
Have you clothed his neck with thunder?

20 Can you frighten him like a locust?
His majestic snorting strikes terror.

21 He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength;
He gallops into the clash of arms.

22 He mocks at fear, and is not frightened;
Nor does he turn back from the sword.

23 The quiver rattles against him,
The glittering spear and javelin.

24 He devours the distance with fierceness and rage;
Nor does he come to a halt because the trumpet has sounded.

25 At the blast of the trumpet he says, ‘Aha!’
He smells the battle from afar,
The thunder of captains and shouting.

Eagh.

I'm feeling nasty today. I want to do some baking or something, but I am feeling pretty sick. So I'm going to try to do some schoolwork and maybe do something else later.

A blast!

I had a blast today! I went over to my riding teacher's house. First we talked a while, then decided we should get the horses run around the ring. So anyway, instead of around the ring, we just started making them canter around the field. They were running across the field, it was so cool! We brought them in and put the in the ring. I got some pictures and tried to go back to eat, and Rocky came over to the fence and started acting like a baby(cause he didn't want to work). So, instead of getting out of it, he decided to pose for pictures and eat my camera. Later we tacked all the horses up for the group we were ministering to and I rode Rocky some on the trail and he was so funny. Being his typical self, he had to try and eat some of the foliage along the trail. I wouldn't let him, so he got mad at me. I swear that horse was trying get me on his good side, but I wouldn't fall for it. So he pinned his ears back and grunted at me. He was irritated at me. After the group got ready to leave, the two girls and I cantered the horses around the ring once. Then we untacked them. I remembered that I wanted a picture with Rocky, and so I got my camera and one of the girls to take them. Then I put Rocky back in the field. My riding teacher offered to let us stay and ride a while longer, so we went out and got the other three horses that weren't used. I rode Angel. She is a flea-bitten grey Arabian and they were telling me she was a high energy horse. She hadn't been ridden in months(which meant she would have some kinks and stuff) because her owner didn't really have time for her and she was being boarded there. So we caught the horses and put them into the ring. Then we ran Angel around to get some of her kinks out. She galloped full speed around the ring and she looked gorgeous! She almost ran me over because she doesn't really watch where she's going, so I had to be careful to stay around the edge of the ring. But after running her, the two girls went into the paddock to tack up and one of them told me I should get to know her a little before bringing her in. So Angel and I just hung out in the ring walking around, talking, and being affectionate. I had her turn in little circles and backed her and just played around a little. Then I took her to tack up. I began to brush her as I always do before riding and she just loved it! She doesn't get much affection either, so she was kissing and leaning and rubbing all over me! She enjoying it so much. I tacked her up and got her into the ring. After a few minutes of making sure all the tack was on right, I mounted her. She did great. So trotted and walked her around a lot before picking up a canter. She had such a smooth trot! But because she hadn't been ridden in a long time, she had choppy, sometimes uneven gaits. She was a little unsure of her gaits. But she did great for not being ridden in a while! When I was almost finished, I decided to get her to do one more canter. She decided she didn't want to do it. She tried to kick out/buck me. I stayed on because it wasn't a very hard kick. But after several tries of this, she finally gave in. She picked up a canter for me and we went around. Afterwards, I brushed and groomed her and untacked her. Then I gave her a treat. I took her to the ring because one of the girls asked me to because she wanted to work with her. So I took her out to the ring and shut the gate. Then I took off her lead rope and let her go. She didn't leave me. She decided to trust me, I think. I tried to head out the gate, with her still standing where I left her. Then I continued to say goodbye. She came over to the gate. I kissed her nose and had to go. But I think she decided she liked me.
